Created in 1963, thanks to Maurice Herzog’s request, the national museum of sport , certify “Museum of France” since 2014, is a Public Administrative Institution under administrative supervision of the Ministry of Sports. Defined by the Sport’s law, its missions are:

• Study and public presentation of the patrimony and sporty facts.
• Preservation, protection and restoration of national cultural pieces
• Enrichment of national collections
• Application of educational actions about sports facts for everyone
• Contribution to progress of knowledge and research

A MUSEUM IN THE HEART OF A STADIUM

Located in Paris to 2013, the National Museum of Sport moved to Nice in the heart of the Allianz Riviera Stadium, the new stadium of the city which host the OGC Nice football match but also plentiful of major events (UEFA 2016, shows, concerts…)
 

More than 50 years after is creation, the only national museum dedicated to sports in France have a background thanks to its large collection of 45 000 pieces and 400 000 documents.
